Towing Services
DPS Maximum Allowable Rate Schedule
All services performed under the contract shall be invoiced and paid in accordance with the contract terms and conditions, specifications and maximum allowable DPS contract rates stated herein. No other charges shall be assessed or paid.
- 1) Accident scene towing/site clean-up services;
- 2) Abandoned/confiscated vehicle towing services;
- 3) All other DPS initiated tow related services done in accordance with A.R.S. § 28-872 and/or which DPS may require.

Maximum Allowable Service Call Rate: Rates start when tow truck is dispatched/in-route to the specified scene and end at point of vehicle delivery/unload at the nearest contractor storage facility or at the destination specified by the vehicle owner. Heavy Duty hourly rates are prorated every 15 minutes after the first completed hour. Light and Medium Duty flat rates include up to 20 loaded miles at no charge.
Maximum Allowable Loaded Mileage Rate: Charge starts at 20.1 loaded miles (Loaded Vehicle) and ends at point of vehicle delivery/unload at the nearest contractor storage facility or at the destination specified by the vehicle owner.
Stand-By Rate (on hold at scene): Starts after tow truck is on-scene not performing towing or recovery activities for 30 minutes for light and medium duty, 60 minutes for heavy duty. Rates can be billed in 15 minute increments and are in addition to flat rate service calls or in place of hourly service call rates.
Extra Labor Rate: Hourly rates are prorated every 30 minutes after the first completed hour. Requires pre-approval by attending officer. May be charged in addition to hourly rates. Special circumstances for light and medium tows only as regular scene clean-up is covered in the flat rate.
Maximum Allowable Vehicle Storage Flat Rate: Unless stored as per A.R.S. § 28-3512, storage charges shall not exceed $25.00 per day and/or revised per day charge when towed pursuant to A.R.S. § 28-3511. No charge shall be incurred for storage during the first calendar day in which the vehicle(s) is picked up. A calendar day is defined as midnight to midnight. Maximum statutory charge: $25.00 per day.
Maximum Allowable After Hours Open Lot Flat Rate: Applies after 6 PM Monday–Friday, noon Saturday and all day Sunday. Unless access is required pursuant to A.R.S. § 28-3512 subsection B, which requires access at no charge to the vehicle for installation of a certified ignition interlock device. *No charge where such access is required.
Maximum Allowable Off-Road Recovery Flat Rate: Requires pre-approval by attending officer. May be charged in addition to flat rates.
Maximum Allowable Flat Rate, Road Side Assistance: Providing motorist/driver assistance other than towing services. Hourly rates and mileage do not apply to this service. Plus reimbursement to contractor for customer requested parts/supplies (i.e. fuel, tires, belts, hoses, etc.). Contractor must produce receipt for reimbursement.
